Here are some quick answers to life's pressing questions...
What is the Deep Cut Film Fest?
We're an international film festival. We took a year off, as fest founder David Briggs wanted to launch the Gateway International Film Festival in North Bay, Ontario. That went well, but the lure of Deep Cut was too strong to resist, so after a year on the shelf (we honestly though it was gone forever), it's back! Full circle to the Registry Theatre in Kitchener where it all became. This upcoming festival will mark Deep Cuts 7th year. Sounds lucky to us!. We always aim to bring the best films to our audience, and this year is no different. We will have an amazing batch of films from around the world, all of which will be on the first run festival circuit. You won't be able to see these films anywhere else!

What kind of movies do you screen?
As mentioned, we bring you the best from around the world and from your own neighbourhood. This year's fest contains short films, and they are organized into feature length blocks.

Where is the festival?
The festival takes place at the Registry Theatre in Kitchener. It's one of the most beautiful theatres around, and we are thrilled they are opening its doors to us once again. We are also planning to have a North Bay show as well, so stay tuned.

Do you need help?
Yes, and on so many levels! We are looking for people to help us select the films (Programming Committee) and you can do that with a good internet connection, and we're also seeking board members, and volunteers to help on the big day. Interested? Reach out via Instagram or email David Briggs at [email protected].

How much is it to attend?
When we have a live event, the price is "pay what you can" at the door.

Can I bring food and / or a drink to the theatre?
We'll get back to you on that when we're back in a theatre.

What should I wear?
Some people have asked if this is a formal / gala style event. Nope, it's just a day of awesome film! So please come as you are, no need to dress to impress (although the K-Dub is rather stylin' to begin with...) So wear what feels right.

Should I bring all of my young children?
You probably shouldn't. About 80% of the films we're screening contain adult content. Best to leave the little ones at home, or in the park.
These films are not rated, however, if we were to provide a rating for the fest, we would list it as 14 Accompaniment, which the Ontario Ratings board defines as:
14 Accompaniment May contain violence, coarse language or sexually suggestive scenes, or any combination of them. Suitable for viewers 14 years of age or older. Viewers under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

No, but there are many municipal parking lots near the theatre. you shouldn't have a problem. We'll post a map closer to the date.
